Hesaru kalu usli

Ingredients

  • Green Gram- 1/4 kg
  • Chopped Onions – 1 no.
  • Green Chillies- 4 nos
  • Chopped Coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds 1 spoon
  • Oil – 3-4 table spoon
  • Grated Coconut – 1 half
  • Salt to taste
How to make
  1. Pressure cook the green gram by adding 3-4 times of water as that of green gram.
  2. Add salt to taste.
  3. Cook the gram for 1 whistle (or just nearing to 1 whistle)( cooking too much will smash all the gram, and wont taste good).
  4. After the gram has been cooked, drain all the water in a container
Now for seasoning
  1. Add 3 – 4 table spoon of oil in a pan and heat it.
  2. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped green chillies, chopped onions, and stir well.
  3. After the onions are half boiled add grated coconut and chopped coriendar and mix well.
  4. Now add the cooked green gram (Salt is already added to the gram) and that would be sufficient for taste.
  5. Green gram usli is ready to eat and serve.
  6. This can also been given as prasadam for ganesh festival after pooja or (while ganesha visarjan).
